Where to stay

Stay close to the party.

Pride week is one of Vallarta’s busiest. Book early, especially anything close to the parade route.

  • Stay in or near the Zona Romántica

It’s the gay neighborhood, about eight blocks by six, and you can walk it end to end in ten minutes. Most of our parties, and Los Muertos Pier where the boats leave, are there or a short walk away.

  • Light sleeper? Read the reviews

Lázaro Cárdenas, the main bar street, is loud from about 10 PM to 2 AM. A side street, or the Amapas hillside just south, is quieter.

  • Views come with stairs

Amapas and Conchas Chinas sit on steep streets. Plan on a short Uber now and then, and pack shoes that can handle cobblestones.

  • Hotel or rental

There are gay-owned boutique hotels, a few of them men only and clothing-optional, and plenty of Airbnb and VRBO rentals, which are often the better deal for a group.

BEFORE YOU BOOK

Before you go

  • Who is Bear Pride for?
Bears, cubs, daddies, otters and the men who love them. Every Bearadise event is men only and 18+.
  • How can I meet more friendly gay men in Puerto Vallarta?
Plenty of guys come solo. Come to Tummy Tuesday or the welcome party, where you’ll pick up your wristbands, and meet other friendly gay men in Puerto Vallarta over Pride week.
  • When is the Vallarta Pride parade?
Usually the Thursday before U.S. Memorial Day, so Thursday, May 27 in 2027. We’ll confirm it here once Vallarta Pride publishes its schedule.
  • Where’s the best place to watch the parade?
It runs south along the Malecón, over the Río Cuale bridge and into the Zona Romántica, ending near Lázaro Cárdenas Park, and takes about an hour. The Malecón, the bridge and Olas Altas near the park are all good spots, and a free street party on Lázaro Cárdenas follows.
  • When do tickets go on sale?
Closer to the date. Join our list below and you’ll hear first.
  • How do tickets and wristbands work?
Buy online and your confirmation arrives by email. A few days before each event we email ticket holders, and post here and on social media, where and when to pick up your wristband.
  • Can I buy tickets at the door?
Yes, many of our events also sell tickets at the door, but buying ahead is strongly encouraged. Many have limited capacity, and the door price is often higher, so save yourself money and get them early.
  • Can I get a refund?
All sales are final. Tickets can be transferred to a future Bearadise event with 24-hour written notice.Refund policy
  • What’s the weather like in late May?
Hot and dry. Highs around 30°C (86°F), nights around 22°C (72°F), and almost no rain, since the wet season starts in June. Bring sunscreen and water for the parade.
  • How do I get from the airport to the Zona Romántica?
Uber is often cheaper than a taxi, but Uber can’t pick up on airport property. To use Uber or DiDi, take a short walk after you leave the airport: turn left, follow the others over the pedestrian bridge, and meet your driver there. It’s about 30 minutes to the Zona Romántica. If you’d rather not walk, the official airport taxi is around 405 pesos for up to three people.
  • Should I bring pesos or dollars?
Pesos are very much appreciated and preferred in Puerto Vallarta. Credit cards work in many places, but some bars, and tipping, run on pesos rather than dollars. Use an ATM inside a bank, like Banorte in the Zona Romántica, and in a busy week like this one, take out pesos early: by the end of the week many ATMs run out.
  • How much should I tip?
About 15 to 20 percent at restaurants and around 20 pesos a drink at the bar, in pesos. Tips for our crews and hosts are not included in your ticket.
  • Do I need a car?
No. The Zona Romántica is walkable, and Uber, DiDi and taxis cover the rest. An Uber across town is usually 50 to 100 pesos.
  • Do I need a passport?
If you’re flying in from abroad, yes, a passport book. A U.S. passport card isn’t accepted for flights into Mexico.
  • Is Puerto Vallarta safe for gay travelers?
Puerto Vallarta is one of the most welcoming places in Mexico for gay travelers, and the Zona Romántica is busy and walkable late into the night. Use the same sense you would at home: take an Uber or a taxi after dark rather than walking far, keep an eye on your drink and your phone, and leave valuables in your room. Travel advisories change, so check your government’s current advice for Mexico before you go.

Be there in May.
